On June 27, 2023, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Arkansas State Police received a 911 call about a silver Lincoln MKZ Hybrid speeding on I-530.
Police chased the vehicle driven by Casey Register at speeds in excess of 120 mph.
The vehicle was weaving through traffic and was stopped by a PIT tactical maneuver near mile marker 43.
Register was arrested and a small bottle of suspected banned substances and a vapor pipe were found in his car.
Register was booked into the Dub Brassell Detention Center.
Earlier this month, a Greenfield police officer conducted a PIT operation to stop thieves in a stolen car.
The maneuver was performed at a speed of nearly 97 mph, causing the stolen vehicle to encounter a concrete pillar at 27th Street and Lincoln Avenue, causing significant consequences.
Despite running at high speed and force, the four suspects in the car fled but were unharmed.
The incident raises questions about the use of such tactics at high speeds, but Wentlandt emphasized that it was a necessary decision under the circumstances.
